So far today no dust bathing. Everyone is too busy destroying things: grass, bugs, worms. There is a lot to destroy. And Dotty adds my legs to the list. After several hours dedicated destruction they all just flopped down to work on their tans.
That is a good days work! After all that work you to need to replenish your vitamin D

@featherhead007 :hugs I'm so sad about Emma and really upset and angry if your suspicion about the nbor is anywhere near accurate. Good idea to keep the babies in lockdown for a bit.

@LozzyR eeeek! 🤢 how did he get in there??!?

@micstrachan that mode of dispensing is prize worthy! Hope your girls perk up

@Ribh give that Dorothy love from me. I hope she does well.

@Scrambles83 that Mugshot is cracking me up

And I guess this question can be asked of the group at large about the prefab coops...has anyone had luck with one lasting a couple of years? We bought ours from the Chicken Coop Company bc it was made in US, wood and wire with extra support under nest boxes. I'm sure hoping it doesn't turn into a pile of kindling prematurely!

Here is Allele for Mugshot Monday!
We have had ours for over 3 years. There’s some screws I’ve had to replace but it’s not falling apart just yet 😅
And thanks, these 2 girls and their expressions make me laugh too. A chicken shot front on is just so funny

Well, we didn’t discuss it, but it is well known that eggs can travel backwards, so why not bacteria? I assumed the E. Coli came from their poop. So dirty/poopy vent could cause salpingitis or other reproductive infections. Big assumption on my part.
Big assumption but accurate. It is bacteria from the colon that causes salpingitis.

I miss holding my chickens like I used to. I’m healing, but I need to help the bandage clean :hit:he
It won't be forever my friend. Given time and good care it will heal. They can be so frustrating though. They task a lot of time.

Not sure, the lid was actually down just before I started throwing towels in. He might have been in there for a day or so.

I will have had our original prefab coop four years in October. I put an automatic door on it and the inside of the lid of the nesting box got mouldy, so I made a new one. Otherwise it’s still going. But they are designed with humans in mind, not chickens.
