I didn’t even have to drive. The Sheriff came to see me. Check the location and patrol the area. He has the sample now, and took it to the station. Seems a real investigation is now underway!

What did you you do to my "careful"? I went back to fix my spelling but it wasn't me!

We have had one for a couple of years now and other that getting dirty, some screws needing retightening, and paint fading a bit, is none worse for wear. We only have three chickens and they only use it for sleeping and depositing eggs. We live in the high desert so our climate is relatively dry with cold long winters and some pretty stiff winds. Perhaps what has helped save the coop from destruction is that it sits right next to the house.

That's a cute model!
There weren't a lot of options nearby for me to look at in person.
This is what we ended up with (sight unseen, but heavy review of specs).

The chicken yard extends to the edge of the timber half wall, so they have a good amount of yard sectioned off for their private use. They have a couple of trees, a row of hedges and some good hiding places under some benches and a table/chairs set. (Do NOT recommend sitting on any of them! ) Not as great as free range, but not bad for in-town birds!

I just want to say great job on your part noticing her behavior. Only by picking up on what she was doing were you able to help her. That's great a chickeneer!

Talking of animals dying there's a dog at the back of where I live outside in a metal shed crying his heart out with sun beaming down. I hope to god they have at least put water for him. There was 2 but now i only hear one. It's breaking my heart

I called league against cruel sports about this but no one seems to care. I spoke to a caring guy once but the ladies I got through to twice after were not interested in helping at all

I’m assuming your major animal charity wasn’t interested either? (I posted a while ago about a big issue I had with them, especially when it came to chickens).
