I couldn't be more sad. Found out why I've had stomach problems. It's been bad. I have C. diff. Yes, they are finding that animals .. birds...can transmit it. I have a pretty sad immune system. No antibiotics to have caused it. I did this last year. Same time. We tried to figure out what I did the same that caused me to be sick. I hatched! Had this last year but got over it without the help with meds. This year I have to take something and cross fingers it helps. Placing ..all..of my chickens. I don't want to hurt like this again!

You can get it from any animal including chickens, but also from people who may not be thorough enough on hand washing.

Read your posting here https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/can-chickens-give-you-c-diff.991815/post-24388621 and I think I get what you mean (that you haven't been on a bunch of antibiotics recently). I don't mean to preach here but please ask for palliative meds too, if you aren't getting them and you are able to take them. Don't wait to tough something out. Also don't say no to fluids by IV, it really helps. You have your kids there to help, correct? OK I'll stop...it's just that I had a hunch all along since you posted about potassium that you were suffering something similar to what I went through way back when....

I've been in for fluids. Drs office, then to ER. ER doc sent me home with prescription for potassium and one for nausea. Dr said today to drink a lot of water with this medication I'm on now. Thank you. . You went through the same??

I've actually talked with our daughter in law about washing her hands good after changing her son's diaper. He goes to daycare. . I don't want to take any chances. He wasn't in daycare when I got sick like this last year, but I did hatch and have chickens. .

I am happy they figured it out though... what is it that you have?

C diff. A terribly mean tummy problem. Needs medication. 10 days on and praying it works.

Chicken tax for mountain photos. I'm going to go through my chicken photos. I started this journey 11 years ago. I had a lot of fun. Think this girl was broody? Nope. She just didn't want me opening the nest box to check for eggs while she was in there!
