That’s good to know, I’ll have to try to find some unsalted ones for them to tryMy girls love sunflower seeds just as much
Yeah, I won’t be giving them too many. Wouldn’t want to use them up that fast too. Mealworms are expensive here. Not to many mealworms they can cause fatty liver
YAY - we can get chicken portraits come the summer.I've had some dreams about trying to protect the other chickens. I have been skipping over pictures of the two for now. We saved some of their feathers and I plan to bind them together with ribbon. I think what makes me most sad is the others won't hop on my arm to be pet. I have to scoop them up manually and they aren't my biggest fans.
I do have plans to set up official commissions later this summer, but if your interested in an image you can pm me.
I LOVE red beans and rice!Busted
That being said...was a simple vegetarian red beans and rice dish tonight....heavy on the spice. @WhoDatChick may even approve the New Orleans nod
So cute! Squeeeee...Hahahaha so this little red has done this last nigh and this evening, at 6:30, she fusses around peeping looking up where I am, and then walking around looking for somewhere to lay down.

dealing with illness or deaths.
I doubt I’m catching up here anytime soon, but am glad to see everyone is keeping busy. Not much has changed here, I’m a little overwhelmed with everything at the moment, but wanted to stop by and say Hi again. I will likely be an infrequent passerby here for the rest of the summer. I almost re-homed the tribes here and was seriously planning on leaving the farm.
I’ve had my first true Broody hatch and agree with @Shadrach now. Broodies ARE better! I have two more sitting as well and due in around three weeks. Four new healthy layer chicks and the all are looking pretty feminine, for day oldsRoostie is still doing well, and the ladies too for the most part... the weather is still very mild.
I hope everyone is doing well, and taking care of themselves, families, flocks, and fur babies too! (Yes, I know... but “Tribes” would ruin the alliteration)
This is awesome. I am guessing that she also has an account on Beakbook?I found an abandoned chick in my yard two days ago and I'm not sure who her mama hen is. I decided to take her in and so far everything has been going well. She enjoys following me around and being cuddled. She also really enjoys monitoring what I'm doing whenever I'm on my laptop. I'm sure @BY Bob will be happy to know that the little chick is a fan of the thread
