Does anyone else feel almost tearful pride with first eggs? When I was showing Belle the egg in the picture I kept telling her what a good girl she was if it was hers and that she has done a good job, well done Belly Boo etc.
I don’t have the girls just for the eggs (which is why I got these 2 so much younger than ‘POL’) but I feel such a prideful feeling when they hit maturity for laying...my babies are growing up 🥰 and aren’t barren 🤭

Hey..coming on to let you know my husband passed on the 27th...last Thursday. All I can say is, this is so hard. Kids have been wonderful! So thankful for them. A couple stayed with me through the days as he passed. Then one daughter stayed one more night. The kids that live here we're in California for a wedding. They got back the day before he passed. I'm so grateful they are home..I'm not alone. Thank you for prayers.
I'm so sorry Cynthia. :hugs:hugs

I'm glad your family is with you to grieve together and support one another.
Sending sympathy and hugs from across the world. ❤️

I have a conundrum that I’m hoping will be nutted out by tomorrow (not a bad one).
When I got home from work this afternoon the girls were in their cubby house and there was an egg on the ground. I found this strange for Snow because for the few she has laid it’s always been in the nesting box without drama.

The colour was different and had light patches on both sides but being laid on the ground in the cubby, it could just be from that.
After I took it out, Snow was looking around then went into the coop with Belle hot on her heels (this is at 4:30, getting close to dusk)
I went out and got a pic with the egg and Belle at around 5:15, she was hanging with Snow while Snow was in the nesting box. Now, why would Snow be in there unless she was trying to lay (or become broody which I don’t think)
This interaction got them both up and out to eat, but now I’m thinking this could maybe be Belle’s first egg 🤷🏻‍♀️

They came out and ate and have now gone to bed. If Snow lays early tomorrow I think I’ll have my answer?
Congratulations on Belle’s First Egg!
I get pretty excited when someone lays their first egg! Haha!
🎉🙌🎊🍾🥂🥚

In light of @Cynthia12 ’s news, it feels almost silly posting this, but I can’t help myself.

RUBY WENT TO BED ON A ROOST TONIGHT!

That is all. Can’t even begin to count the tears I have shed for this girl, both good and bad. Sad tears when I was 100% sure she’d die any day and happy tears when she accepted watermelon.

Note to all, including self: If you have the means, keep trying. I am so happy, but a little scared to be happy. ❤️

Still cherishing each day.
Such wonderful news. I am so excited for you and Ruby. Excellent. :thumbsup

I did it but it was hard to open the container and get them out for the girls to eat. There wasn’t a lot of chasing, the crickets tried to burrow down into the thick grass and the girls snipped them up. I have a video I believe but not too exciting.
Darn. That is disappointing.

I think it could be Belle's. How large is it? Their first egg is usually smaller. I have found eggs in odd places before. Almost like they were having too much fun to go back to the coop and lay.

I’m leaning that way too because of the location. But look at the coop pic, her sweet, titchy comb. I’m guessing size isn’t everything 😅
Size is not everything, color is. Bright red combs lay. It looks similar in color to Snow's. Is it?

I do. It means they are all grown up and you got them there safely. It is a very emotional time for me.
