I’m sitting here with Rocks-Ann in the house. I was playing (the Roxanne version by the band “police”) I don’t think that she appreciated it that much. She’s by far a not a prosti...,.,, ah never mind. My Rocks-Ann is a perfect angel!

I always picture Eddie Murphy signing it in a jail cell.

Bob is hilarious, cherry pie comes to my mind. I shall never get over that one . I even told my friend, she was really feeling low after a loss of a friend, that made her laugh, bless her she felt guilty.

They are all over the Hawaiian islands. It's real cool to have them walk by when you are sitting on the beach like it is no big deal.

I think this is the thing. We are traumatized more than they are because this is how their society works. They can be cruel but it would be necessary for their survival. We anthrpromorphize them into what we want to see them as not what they are. Therefore we are traumatized when Phyllis gets pecked in the face for no apparent reason.

Exactly.

I hope folks realise that when I anthropomorphise the hens, I'm not serious. I deeply respect them for who they are And I try to provide what they need.

All good points Shad. I think your set up in Spain is pretty ideal for a domesticated animal but we all do our best with what we have.

I'm just glad my chooks and dogs cohabitate well enough that my hens get to free range in the backyard almost everyday. Not ideal perhaps, and a far cry from what their ancestors evolved with but far better than a cage. Which was my original reason for getting backyard chickens in the first place. No more caged eggs.

And I count myself lucky to have a relatively large chicken run for only four hens. Soon the whole backyard will be enclosed and then they'll have even more space to roam about.
