I wanted you to know that I have put thought into this response as it has.

Phyllis would be agitated no matter if some was in the box or it was empty. I truly believe that she does not want to lay her eggs there. I'm certain that @Shadrach Is right when he says they prefer the ground to lay on. At least as far as Phyllis is concerned. She has been trying to find a spot on the ground since she joined us and started laying.
But she hasn't chosen the ground - I thought she was in a planter. Did I get that wrong?

I just put marbles in the standard tractor supply chick waterer. I can't find a photo of it right now. I'll post one if I do.
I was wary of marbles when I got the road-runner chicks because I thought they might be slippery and risk a leg getting broken. So I used a few rocks instead.
When I observed them however I don't think they would ever have drowned in the water bowl - they grew like weeds so within 24 hours I was no longer worried of that risk.

The worst thing about being a bachelor, is I’m eating a leftover burrito from last night. (But I added a serving of cottage cheese with pineapple) but still, yuck!:sick
And she laughed at my predicament!:th

Amber is soooooo moody these days. It's really humid today maybe this is the reason today. Plus she has one feather sticking out, could this be hurting her?
