Hi there and welcome! It’s great to meet you! My husband is from Alberta, too. Well, sort of from all over western Canada.

Can I just say that I love the name Beaker and might have to steal it one day? Well done!
Steal away! I named her after Beaker from the muppets, as she has a little fuzz of feathers on her head, and squeaks similar to how Beaker ‘talked.’ Yet I also call her ‘little’ as she’s the youngest, or Speedy as she is very quick-she has to be to get her food without getting scolded. She will practically climb on top of everyone else to get her treats. At this point I think the others have given up reprimanding her and just roll their eyes. It’s too hot to bother!

#2 But because his comb and wattles color is better (which maybe can be fixed in the other ones?) and he is looking at something directly ahead of him. They all are good though. he is a wonderful looking guy. Do you have one where he is looking right at you? I would like to see one like that!

Uhh I have 7 speckled Sussex chicks! 4 astralorp chicks! 1 dark brahama! 15 bantam chickens! 6 adult astralorp chickens! And my pet turkeys! One broad breasted white turkey named dinner! Copper the bourbon red turkey! Smokey the blue slate! And a nerragamsette turkey!
Wow! That's a lot. We'd love to see photos of them some time.

Ok that's it, silkies are just plain suicidal. Just ended a 3 hour long thunderstorm and it was time to put everyone up for the night. To my horror Holly only has 4 chicks, my favorite one is missing. In order to properly look for it I put her and her 4 up and momma and her 10 up so I can hear for a distressed chick. I hear nothing, but scanning everywhere I do not find a body either. On my 3rd trip around the building near the ramp I hear a faint peeping, but it sounds like it is one of the chicks under Holly. Just to be sure I look under the ramp and there she is, wedged under the ramp. I get her out and she is cold, wet and shivering. Bring her in to dry her off and give her a bit of save-a-chick that I mixed up for her. Used a medicine cup and she drank 2 tablespoons of it then ate a bit of chick crumble. I just took her back out and put her under Holly who was happy to see her but bit me for good measure. I swear these chicks are going to give me my first grey hair, something my now teenage daughter has yet to do.
