I think you should try - I tried but am hopeless on the phone one handed so gave up.
The way I do it the chicken is always the right way up though I might tilt her down a bit to get a good look at underneath bits.
Her head is looking behind me and her neck is under my arm-pit.
Mostly she is resting on my forearm but if I need both hands she is just wedges between my upper arm and my body.

I love me some Alice.

With no disloyalty to any other fine ladies, I do think Alice is particularly appealing looking. Sort of ‘dainty’.

Why?
I just want to know why.
Why do I bother to supply fresh clean water? Why do I bother putting ice cubes in it when it is hot?
Why do I wash out their water bowls?
Why?

All they do is drink from muddy puddles.

Maggie is incorrigible. It is very hot and very humid but there she is again sunbathing in her down jacket.
The Roadrunners are sitting in the shade.

Yesterday somebody was out there in the sunny part of the moveable run sunbathing, on her side, one leg all stretched out, wing up a bit. Soon she was joined by another. Must be just lovely! Didn't last very long though. Then they went into the shade.

Why? In college, that was a question on a test I took. My answer was “Why not?” I did well in that class!

Do any of you know dog breeds that can protect chickens instead of trying to eat them? Our neighbor have a really fast dog, though it's never came over nor has it ever tried, but there's also coyotes and raccoons and I'm not that sure of my chicken's safety.

I know it goes without saying but whatever breed you choose will have to be trained & I'm not sure I would ever fully trust a dog unsupervised around chickens. One of the worst chicken predators is the family dog. Just check out the predator thread! That said some breeds have a higher prey drive than others. The best guards dogs do not usually make good family pets.

A secure run & coop is your best defence against predators & to ensure your chickens safety. A hot wire is some help if you are free ranging. In the long run these are also probably cheaper options.

Shade and damp ground has finally won out over sunbathing.
I admit I am relieved about that. With heat index it is over 100 degrees.
