Mrs BY Bob did get the name from Loki. I expect that she may try and use it again some day but we shall see. She loves the name.

Awesome. It’s absolutely my favorite Marvel show yet. I love the name too.
I want to get a pair of birds, maybe black & buff, and name them Sylvie and Loki.
Someday I’ll have a flock with entirely marvel-themed names, I’m sure.

Awww, thank you! They really are just a pack of hatchery mutts, but they are happy girls and we all just love them so much.

A door that closes by gravity only could easily be pushed up by a predator. I believe it takes 20lbs of upward force to open the Ador once it is closed. The Ador uses almost no force when closing so it could not push through a chicken but what it does do is lock in place when closed.

Perhaps I will shoot a video of it closing on my hand......

Sadly the automated door is way more reliable than me, especially in the winter when I can be in meetings way past sunset. It always closes. Whereas I have been known to forget or just plain been late.

Yes, in addition to international meetings at night or ungodly hours of the morning messing with my sleep schedule and impacting when I can get outside, there is the issue you mentioned.
We haven't personally faced it (yet) as we just introduced the girls to the outside in April... but winter is around the corner and it getting dark at 4pm, a first line of defense is important. Us humans remain the final line by counting and saying good night.

Wow. Her reproductive system is completely haywire. Hopefully Friday goes well.

Thanks, both. There is the worry that it will only last a month and not correct the underlying issue. There is the dream it will be a one and done treatment. There is the thought that one dose and shortened days will give her body a chance to grow a little more instead of investing all the resources into egg production.

The truth is, we will try the vet advice, but if the hormones don't "fix" her after a couple of tries, it will not be something we can administer every month for the rest of her life at 500$ for the prescription only. It will have to be an occasional treatment at most

Gather the ladies, set up the "table", get out the good China and serve "tea" and "pb&j sandwiches" (cornbread with pumpkin puree as a spread and sunflower seeds mixed in for crunch). Make sure they each have a napkin to wipe their beaks.
