All I wanted, was a three egg omelette. But when I cracked open the eggs, this is what I got! Someone is an over achiever! :old C323CBB9-7138-441E-98FB-3BEB26BB547D.jpeg

This morning it was beautiful out so I took the pot of coffee out with me and spent some time with the chickens. I was supervising Bunny and her 8 chicks while they were free ranging in the yard and she is teaching them to eat bugs. It was not long until I had a friend in my lap. Branch my silkie cockerel *strongly suspect he is a boy* was insistent that he was in my lap today. Once up he happily sat down and went to preening both himself and me. I've never had a chicken try to preen me before and it was adorable. After a good grooming session he just flopped over and stretched out and went to sleep. I'm soo happy I have the silkies now. They are different enough that it does not bring on the twinges of pain that Drummies offspring do. I did have Bubba up in my lap once today for a few minutes but he decided chasing grasshoppers was more fun then cuddle time. Once the camera charges I'm going back out later. It's time to get some new pictures of everyone and introduce you all to Bunny's new chicks.

:fl you stay safe too! So far only rains here :fl
Just checking in that you are OK. I have a lot of rain (I am choosing not to inspect the basement as I am sure it will have flooded) but all souls are safe so far.
The storm seems to have stalled so it is just sitting over us dumping rain.
Hoping it moves on soon.

The rain has begun here!
Got the dog walk in (everyone in town was out in preparation), and put a tarp over the roof-less news coop so they girls would have an extra area to stay dry in.
They now have the original coop and halfway covered run, the hedges, the cherry tree, two benches, a table, two chairs and the new coop to hunker down in and not get 100% soaked.

Here is a pic of the new coop before all the sides were closed in. It has boards on all sides and a tarp on top for now (hubby didn't want to put the roof on right before the storm...I don't blame him)View attachment 2807197
We still need to decide where to place windows and the auto door will be on the backside about 3 feet up to allow access to what will be the raised and covered run along the garage.
Beautiful build so far! I wish I was handy with wood.

Yes, but she's bigger than she was. It seems her body is prioritizing putting meat on her bones rather than filling out her face feathers or growing her feet.
I'm so excited. She is going to catch up. You did a fabulous job with her. :bow:bow:clap:clap

I'm so glad for you. I'm sure this quality time helped tremendously. :hugs
