The storm has passed and the rain has stopped. We got a little over 6” here so everything is very soggy and muddy except the Chicken Palace which is nice and dry (well apart from the two areas where I still need to finish my drainage pipes).
So I let the Princesses out into their yard. With the wet and the heat everything has grown a lot so Maggie’s little paths through the long grass got overgrown. She went right to work clearing the paths.

I am worried about Elizabeth.
She continues to lay very brittle shelled eggs and sometimes no shell at all.
At least I know she is getting the eggs out because they make a hell of a mess in the nest box. But she isn’t full of zip like normal. Nothing terrible just a bit subdued. And she just delivered a poop that was like pure water.
I will check her crop in the morning to see it is emptying properly.
I may be overly worrying - several of the Princesses have had liquid poops now and then and I think she is starting to molt, so maybe it is OK. But something tells me she isn’t quite righ.

Maybe it is the oncoming molt? I was worried about Hazel and how she was behaving, for about three-four days. She definitely was molting her pantaloons then, but now she is losing feathers like crazy and has begun acting more normal.

Before, she would stand warily off, looking preoccupied and worried, and she was really crabby, chasing Popcorn and correcting Butters excessively. When I gave any treats, even when directly offered sunflowers and then walnuts (on separate days) she was hesitant and wouldn't take any. After a day of that I checked her crop, which was not very full before roosting but was empty the next early morning. Now she is eating everything, hungrily gobbling greens and everything else. The poop tray was covered in feathers this morning. She took a dustbath by herself today, losing a lot more feathers. She still is beating on Popcorn though. Popcorn got some dirt in her throat while dustbathing, started honking and coughing and had to hop out of the pool to avoid Hazel. Popcorn had to run and cough and run again; every sound brought on a fierce pursuit by Hazel.

But so are you, in the “correct light” Bob. :lau:gigI’m kidding friend:hugs
I did not write that well.
