Happy Fluffy Butt Friday everyone. It didn't take them long to leave the cage this morning. 2 minutes after the door was opened they were out exploring. They stayed out for a hour then returned to the cage to get down to the serious business of egg laying. I'm going to give them a few more days to settle in, but soon going to have to do some serious booty washing. Hopefully next Friday these girls will have some clean butts to show off.

They're such teddy bears this lot, they look so cuddly!

Up periscope!
I guess at that age there are lots of new things to look at.
🥰
They will be on top of the heater plate before the end of the weekend. Clever to give it a cardboard top. I got the little red lid that is supposed to prevent them from roosting on top. It didn’t. I think flat top cardboard top looks like a better idea.
I got the cardboard top for cheap at my pet chicken. I bought a standing coop heater for when I start shuttling them out to the Cluckle Hut and saw the cardboard tops. I'm thinking they will work great. We shall see.

Looks can be deceiving. I've handled them once since they are still wary and do not want to push them. I want them to come to me on their own. When I was packing them to the coop, 4 out of the 6 bit me, repeatedly. I hope the biting was purely out of stress.

I think maybe we can stop worrying that they aren’t getting fluids and nutrition and can all focus on the developing hair dos.
🥰
It was so relieving to actually see them drink. I am starting to "un-tense" a little. I was really tied up by what happened before. I'm really surprised that it had me wound so tight. I simply did not realize how deeply it had affected me.
