Yes and they seem fine. Honestly I was worried Diana would go all scary dictator on everyone and terrorize the Roadrunners even more than she does. But she hung out with Maggie and did chicken-things all day.
I was planning on getting some more chicks from the farm in the spring. I still think I will wait until the spring, but it crossed my mind maybe I should introduce some new chaos now. 🤔
Some Candy-Corn Polishes perhaps? ;)

Field Trip Photos

In this first photo we are looking at Legertha. She is starting to lose her head poof. You can see the tiny pin feathers coming in. I believe these two are going to start looking silly soon.

The reactions of the big hens were very interesting. Sydney came over twice and got her face right down next to them. They were peeping away. I can't tell if Sydney said anything to them or not.

Aunt Aurora was all over this. She has a fascination with chicks that makes me wish she would set. She might be an excellent mum.

The high today is only going to be 76°F (24°C) so if we go back out it will be mid day in the sun.
SHRA!

Phyllis Meets the Chicks

Phyllis was up when I took the chicks out yesterday and she got to meet them. She ran right over to see them. However Sydney has taken control of the area around them and ran Phyllis off.

This is really Sydney's show. As the video goes on you can hear her talking to the chicks and it appears she is showing them things to eat.

Amazing.

Wow - that series of videos is adorable, fascinating and sad all at the same time. In the first video Phyllis seems to want to get in there with them in the worst possible way. But Sydney does seem to be the most natural Mom.
I wonder if you could arrange alone time for them with Phyllis indoors with mealy worms.
