Someone’s been messing in the nest. Hahaha!Every time I see her, I think "hey! That's Cheetah, my cockerel!" Then recognize the comb. Oh, Campine not Hamburg. Makes me suspect the gold Hamburg was developed from the silver crossed with Campines.
I feel bad for Phyllis! I wonder how she would have been if she had had alone time with them. Will she ever get a chance to show that, now that Sidney is in control? Would Sidney have taken control eventually, no matter?Phyllis Meets the Chicks
Phyllis was up when I took the chicks out yesterday and she got to meet them. She ran right over to see them. However Sydney has taken control of the area around them and ran Phyllis off.
This is really Sydney's show. As the video goes on you can hear her talking to the chicks and it appears she is showing them things to eat.
Amazing.
SHRA! She appears much more eager than Sidney to get in there with the chicks - do you think eager in a good way, or not?Alone Time
Phyllis did get some alone time with the Chicks without Sydney chasing her.
They are growing so fast. They really only use heat at night right now. It's really surprising.
The heat plate would be useful as a good hiding place in any test with the older chickens. I wouldn't do any test in that box run unless you can take the top off or make it so there's immediate access for you everywhere. That was my experience with the Roadrunners. I looked back and I had put them outside at a couple of weeks of age with temperatures down in the 50s at night.
They spent their days actively running around and only slept under the plate.
Interestingly they slept under it for a long time. I think it was a comfort thing because they slept there even after I unplugged it.
Phyllis got time with them last night. I will post video tonight.I feel bad for Phyllis! I wonder how she would have been if she had had alone time with them. Will she ever get a chance to show that, now that Sidney is in control? Would Sidney have taken control eventually, no matter?
The Buckeyes then and now are talkative. I never tired of it! It looks a bit like Sylvie is a little cold, or probably always needs the comfort of Legerthas touch. A big difference in agility and apparent development between these two right now! Love them bothI hope it's not too annoying.
