I've been thinking about this sort of scale.

And then replacing the tray with a thick branch.

Then I can sneak out after dark and move a sleeping hen from her roost onto the thick branch and hold her steady until the scale has taken her full weight. Read the dial. Put the hen back on the roost. Come back a week later to do another hen.
This is a very :goodpost:and an excellent idea imo :)

I think my girls were lambs in their last life and I must have been Mary.

You said it takes a long time too know a chicken these little loves knew me within a week and I am totally in love with them.

I'm so protective like I've never been before. I guess I've always been the protective sort towards animal's but never this bad.
