Run a ladder in so they can get out easily. That would work but then they would be stuck at the bottom and easy prey for hawks with that white background.![]()

The crock pot idea is very clever. My waterer in the coop is a flat-backed rubber bucket with nipples added to it. I'm using a round rubber dish for a lid (wedged into the top) so it can't vacuum seal. The cord goes to the lamp which is aimed at the bucket. Testing this out this winter.

I can state that a lamp aimed at a rubber dish does NOT keep it from freezing AND they can kick all sorts of stuff into the dish/flip the dish. Those dishes have been relegated to catch at the bottom of the downspouts/under the water spigots around the yard.

I've also got a couple of crockpots set to warm around to keep open water in deep winter (they mostly don't use them unless the downspout tubs are frozen).

This one needs refilling.
Very likely. Aurora has been on Sentinel duty most days since Hattie started her molt.Is she on hawk watch do you think?
But I need the “S” on it (he’s not robin, or Batman)Anywhere fabric is sold, you can get what are called "fat quarters". They're 18×21 inch squares. Attach a ribbon along 1 side and instant cape.
I had a critter ladder. The sad fact is if they don't fall in right next to it they don't ever reach it.Run a ladder in so they can get out easily.
Local rancher mentioned it as what they did for assorted dogs, cats, other animals at their place. I like it, so stole the idea. As long as the thing has a warm setting that works, it's an easy one. Yard sales, 2nd hand stores, assorted sales, more readily available than heated pet waterers, and cheaper, too. I got 2 brand new for the same price as a low end heated pet water dish. The crock pot idea is very clever.![]()
Into the EMPTY pool.I had a critter ladder. The sad fact is if they don't fall in right next to it they don't ever reach it.
Well hello Phyllis. The yard is small and by fencing off the pool you cut up a small yard even more. I will bounce ideas off of her but I don't usually win these things.

So do a calligraphic entwined S and R ....or if you're feeling extra punny, a crow. But I need the “S” on it (he’s not robin, or Batman)![]()
