Oh I am jealous. I get loads of wild turkeys but have never seen a poult.

Yay! I bet it was just a molt all along. What a relief!

Well I think the lump I broke up in her crop was real and the long grass I pulled out of the other end.
So maybe not just molt.
I am going to try and weigh her again today.

I’ve been chasing down a dog crate for the past week, everyone has sold out and can’t pay $100+ for one. Finally got an ‘as new’ secondhand one today, so she has been set up in the cage of shame from this afternoon until she forgets this motherhood business.

She’s day 22-23 and showing no signs of giving up other than that one day out of her own choice, then she was straight back in to the nest box again.

Oh, Marie! Your rant makes me giggkeva little. I’m sorry. Not because I think it’s funny… It is not. It makes me giggle because you’re getting emotional, just like I would in your shoes. I continues to amaze me how our feathered friends really pulling her heart strings.

New Mop Tops

I promised pictures of the new mop tops which the littles were growing. I had trouble getting a good shot of Legertha but you can really see the orange coming in of Sylvie's poof.

As a temporary measure, you could partially wrap the coop/run in plastic or a tarp - on the wind-ward side at least to help with the draft/breeze so they have a more sheltered spot. It will also keep out blowing precipitation - whatever form it takes. Best of luck!

The new littles has destroyed the plastic.

What more they have taught the old girls bad habits of tapping plastic to get rain water, amber's doing it all day even though it's dry I think she likes the sounds she's making (rolling eyes emoji needed)
