Bad news today. I saw my neighbor putting out mice bait traps around his house (the kind with baited poison inside)
I’m hoping none of those poisoned mice come over to my yard and my chooks eat them! :rant:fl
Note: I don’t use poison, or weed killer anywhere on my property. The idiot next door, has chooks too (he should know better) yes I have spoken to him about it. He refuses to care. :idunno

And they are the right size for chickens to drive! :thumbsup
The last batch liked perching on/preening on/around them last winter. (Multiple at once) I found that a bit odd as metal is a great cold conductor. They'd do so on the colder days and in the wind (that area catches a lot of it). It also catches a lot of sun and is easily seen from the house so maybe was because they felt safer there. It will be interesting to see what this lot do. Silver and Pear are teaching them to raid the cat food (checking even if dish isn't there). I chased 4-5 plus the adults off the patio several times today. Silver even managed to steal Castor's breakfast while I was watering this morning. I think he went off to find his own as he didn't show back up until around 10.

Do not give them the keys to the Tonka trucks, or your yard will look like mine does! (craters everywhere, like the surface of the moon) :gig

Hi everyone, been a bit since I've been on. Spent a hour reading and playing catch up. It's good to hear that for the most part everyone is well. Hope you recover soon RC from the inner ear issues, those are definitely no fun. I'm also sorry to hear about Volt shad, if it is to be her time at least she got to live the end of it under your care and got to experience normal chicken behavior. I've been experiencing one of the many drawbacks to covid, after you have had it and recovered your immune system is shot. The past week and a half dealt with walking pneumonia. Last Saturday my breathing was so bad that any other time I would have went to the ER, in fact I considered it. But Covid is still so rampant at the hospitals that I toughed it out. The last thing I needed was to get it again on top of the pneumonia. I think I'm finally over it just weak and a nagging cough. I finally went out today and spent some time with the chickens this afternoon. I could tell they missed me and I was mobbed, even by the blue girls who have gotten bold enough to come peck at my sweatshirt sleeves and fingers. Branch was so happy to see me that when he was in my lap instead of settling right down he proceeded to yell at me for a good 5 minutes. Afterwards he took a nap in his favorite spot, my arms.
Oh, no! I am glad that you are on the mend, though!:hugs

:loveLovely Branch - telling you just how much he missed you and to not worry him with your extended absence again!:love

The very rarely observed Hamster Chicken. You're lucky to have such a rare breed of chicken and in such magnificent colouration too! I'm quite jelly.

:gig

(Don't mind me, sometimes I like to make a little joke)
I would have thought it was a Guinea Fowl! :lau

(I’ll show myself out).
