Happy Fluffy Butt Friday. I did not take any new pictures today as I'm dragging my feet charging my camera since I need to get pictures of Lil Bit. Here is one from last week, 2 large fluffy cochin girls. I have to admit, if you want a fluffy butt, you need a large fowl cochin.

Major fluff action!

? She's a BR? :confused:She has WHITE legs...now I'm confused...that was one of the few chickens I thought I had down pat!

Well, confusing or not, she is a lovely lady:love

Ummm .... pssst...@Ribh,... she isn't frizzled:gig:gig
Yeah, thinking she’s not a BR. Alex, does the place where you got them have clean legged Cuckoo Marans?

What is the phrase you're using - "Nevermore" Red Tail Hawks? You mean like a crow? Cooper's Hawks are sort of crow-sized https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Coopers_Hawk/id but it might be a female Sharp-Shinned Hawk, which might fit the size.
I have seen different sizes of Red Shouldered Hawks here. I can’t visually tell Red Shouldered, Sharp Shinned and Coopers apart (we have them all), but I can tell by the call. The huge ones must be the females.

They aren't raven-sized, a small raven = a large female Cooper's, possibly.
I know we have Coopers here, but perhaps have not seen them. I did not realize they were that small. ONCE I saw what looked like a smallish black and white striped hawk zipping through the trees… thinking maybe that was a Coopers?

Well, folks, I leave for Mexico early tomorrow morning. I hope to pop on here and there while on vacation.

Seven waterers are full, poop was cleaned up (somewhat) out of the coop, little feeders are full (that only lasts a day or two) plus I put out a large bowl of feed snd have a large hanging feeder.

I plan to leave the coop door open, so the run better be as secure as I think it is. I just don’t have confidence DH and DD would let them out at a reasonable time each morning and don’t want them to get trapped in the coop. There’s a large waterer in the sunroom, but still!

I just don’t know what else to do. My neighbor who normally looks after them while I’m gone has a bum knee and it seems silly to ask him to look after them when my family is home.
