Since Little Chiquita is a spitfire and it is obvious that if she got loose I'd have no hope of catching her at the moment I had to break quarantine. She needs a buddy now so if she does get loose she'll have someone to hang out with and hopefully make catching her easier. I introduced her to Poppy yesterday. I sat outside the pen freezing for over a hour supervising. No picking on each other from either girl, in fact after a 3 minute stare down they acted like they were long lost friends. They eat together, preen together and even sat in Poppy's nest side by side for a while together. Chiquita is picking up on Poppy's ques and whatever Poppy wants to do she is right there with her. Branch also discovered her yesterday and is mad that I will not let him in with the girls yet. He spent the majority of the evening camped out at the door talking to both girls. He is currently outside the door this morning trying to offer bits of grass and confused as to why they cannot get to his treats. Having both girls in the same space I realized Poppy is a little taller then her, but Chiquita feels a few ounces heavier. I'm also worried about this weekend, starting tonight supposed to get a ice storm followed by several more inches of snow. Chiquita's feathers are in rough shape from a combo of being beat up to what appears to be mid or almost through a molt. I'm not sure even though the carrier that she sleeps in at night is heavily bedded and inside a protected run if she can handle the night time temps. I'm probably going to bring her in for the next few nights. She does not have mites or lice as I caught her and inspected every inch of her body just to make sure. She was not a fan of the body inspection and showed it by biting and pooping on me.
