So there are 5 names being tossed around for the Chiquita chicks. My mom says the keeper has to be named Charlie. My grandpa wants to call Chiquita Charlie after him so we will let him have his Charlie in one of her babies. Another member on here informed me that "Fifi" was the name of a small variety of banana's and me and Rosie think its perfect for a little yellow silkie. Mom thinks it is a poodle name and she hates poodles, but we will overrule her on this one. The other 3 names Rosie is tossing around are Mango, Banana and Wasabi. Of those 3 I like Mango the best, but at some point Rosie will end up with a chicken named Wasabi. Poppy has yet to lay but she has also named 2 of her and Branches future chicks. 1 is Twig or Twiggy after Branch, and the other is Hoppy to rhyme with Poppy.
All these names are so fun. I think they would work for a hen or a roo .

(Sorry, didn't mean to jinx you. Think hen thoughts... :fl🐣)

I could do, yes, but security was more important after the recent break in attempts.

If I wanted cameras just for watching the hens, I'd probably get battery-powered ones if they're cheaper.

I got these ones. I mentioned above it was important to me that the cameras are on the electricity and not battery-powered. That's because when we're not in a pandemic I often travel for work and leave the house empty. When I'm on the go again, it'll be good to know the cameras won't drop out in my absence.
Thank you. I have been making lame attempts every now and then at figuring these out. If there's a monthly fee (I'd prefer not), can you store locally, etc., will it be on my home wifi all the time, or can I have it on it only when I want, etc. So confusing!

There are a lot of options. Make it's a job for a spreadsheet?

WiFi cameras are what they call a peer-to-peer system, when you start you camera's application to view the camera, it sends out a signal to your camera to 'wake it up' so you can view it. It doesn't run continuosly unless you are watching it continuosly.

WiFi camera required a power source to run it, when it says 'wireless' it means it has no network cable you still need a power cable. My new outdoor PTZ (pan tilt zoom) camera is wifi and it's signal is unreliable, I will be getting some network cable to direct connect to my router.

FYI using a network cable is a more stable signal than wifi. Most WiFi camera will have an option for a network cable (ethernet cable). This is what I did with my aisleway barn camera the wifi signal sucked, so I connected it with a network cable to my router and no further issues. Only problem is two cable runs, 1 for power which thankfully my stalls all have outlets, and the second cable the network cable.

U will also see POE cameras (Power Over Ethernet). These are the cameras I prefer. You do not need a.power cable with POE cameras, the ethernet (network cable) cable you connect to the camera carries both power and the signal for the cameras video and sound. You will need a special POE switch to plug the ethernet cable into which supplies the power. This POE switch is then connected to your router. I have my hen house cam which is POE, it never goes down I can always see it's video and I only needed the one cable run.
