The Cat and the hen are cuties!

I've encountered carnage like that once. My brother-in-law, a carpenter, gave me a coop he had made for my niece that she no longer needed. It had a plastic corrugated roof...but NOTHING under the roof. I had it 2 days...and a racoon pulled the roofing up (broke it at a screw-head) enough to get in...all 18 of my pullets dead. It was not a pretty sight! :hit
Terrible thing was, as we were moving it into place, I commented that there should be some welded wire under the roof panel. His reply was: she's used it for 2 years. Nothing will get in there! I should have listened to my own instinct...it was totally my fault.:he😢:he
That had to be so hard. I hate lessons like that. :hugs :hugs

The amount of money you would have to pay me to live anywhere else in this county… the weather? Just Nope! And I don’t know how Bob and all his neighbours cope… or the Aussies, for that matter I Wuss out over 30 Celsius and around 30 Fahrenheit too! 😂
If I could stay around 28C (82F) year round with a bit of humidity and a soft breeze I would be golden 🤗.

Weather whining tax:

The gang today - well some of them anyways!

Reminiscing

2 Years ago yesterday and today our tribe doubled in size. They arrived 2/9/20.

They emerged from the coop the next morning and began exploring their new house.

They are lovely hens all. :love I never regretted taking them all in.

It's a real shame that Sansa is not here today. She was my friend and I miss her little honk. May she rest in peace the poor girl.

I'll always remember trying to feed them blueberries that first day. Sansa would not let the other 2 have any. I had to pick her up and hold her so the other 2 could have some. She loved blueberries. 🫐 🫐 🫐 🫐
