Oh, I missed this post. What a sad outcome! :hugs
I'm still on the fence about the broodiness. It's still too cold. If she (or one of the others) goes broody in late april-mid August, then I'm going to sneak eggs in from my MIL. Once that happens... (she has some jersey giants, and Rusty was wonderful)

I had a visual of the wind getting under its wing and tumbling 😮

Kinda like Misty did this afternoon as she flew out of the hen house smacked into the back of my head sending both of us 'flying' 😁, crazy bird - that isn't even the first time she has done that!! She smacked into my face one morning flying off the top off the nest box, almost gave me a concussion! Twice she has flown into my chest and I managed to catch her🤣🤣
Kamikaze chicken!

Winner Winner have some Chickens over to share Dinner!

maybe a big salad 🤷‍♂️

8 people entered the "guess who laid the eggs" contest from the other day. I must point out that only 1 Aussie participated. Way to represent @Scrambles83

We had 3 correct guesses out of the 8. Everyone who picked Betty, sorry she has not laid yet. She is obviously interested but not quite ready.

Of all things Phyllis has stopped laying in the Cluckle Hut and is now laying in the main coop.

The 3 layers were, Aurora (her 1st of the year), Sydney, and Phyllis.

Those with the winning guess were @rural mouse @Scrambles83 @RebeccaBoyd

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive::celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate

@Ribh @LozzyR @Aussie-Chookmum @MaryJanet @micstrachan @ChicoryBlue
Oi! I'm an Aussie! I participated! I got the 3 layers right!

Or at least I would have if I hadn't accidentally typed Maleficent instead of Aurora.....

:tongue:tongue:tongue:tongue:tongue

Oh, and Congrats to you other 3 ;):clap

These look rather different to the one I have.

If it were me, I would go for the one with the large flat treadle but that depends on how much room you have and how level the ground where it will sit is.

What do other people think?
I was wary of the plastic treadle one. I was looking at the 4 kilos.
I have to look for something that would fit into the run. My problem is they don't seem too give measurements which is very important.

I don't want too stop their ground movement. It's 3 too four ft by 10.

Sorry @Marie2020 I can’t help. I have never had a treadle feeder. I have the open kind that hang in the run.

You see I have mine outside the coop (but in the run) so I don't need to worry about the room it takes up.

If you are worried about space, you will need to go with the one with smallest foot print which would be a bar one I suspect. Once the hens know how to open it it shouldn't be a problem. It may take a little longer to train them is all.

Can someone link me to Bob's post on the lilly update. I've very little time our weather is a nightmare and trying to multitask here
There hasn't been much of an update yet Marie.
Lilly is much the same. Bob doesn't expect to see any improvement from the antibiotics for about 3 days and he won't get the blood test results until Monday.

Edit: Oh, but she was foraging outside with the rest of the tribe for a bit today.

Thanks so much :) I will put treats in there first that should get it going. This weather I can't put anything outside
