I went back through my archive of photo's and found these. This is the first group of chicks momma hen hatched. They were EE x Wyandotte's, but one of these cute little chipmunks grew up to be Henrietta.
Here they are at a couple days old.

There’s a Little too much back crossing/inbreeding there, but at least the broodies got babies out of it!

That may be, but I'm assuming their genetics (or their lineage) are(is) different than yours? If so, and they don't have serious genetic issues, it would just add more genetic diversity to your flock. So, kinda a win-wiin. Eggs for the broody & a bit more genetic diversity???

Why would you ever do that? That's just crazy. Any blue layers can come live with me.

Seeing as how I am not striving for blue eggs that means all 3 will lay colored eggs doesn't it. It has to be how the universe works for me, I want pullets and hatch off cockerels. I want brown eggs, surprise here are some blue ones.

I know this is a terrible thing to say on Bob's thread, but I prefer brown eggs. If they are EEs and IF they lay blue/green eggs Rosie will be doing cartwheels. No matter the color of the shell, the eggs will taste the same.

They like to chase the tractor at certain times of the week. Since BIL has basically claimed it as his vehicle, the delivery schedule is a little spotty, but they do this every Friday and usually Tuesday or Wednesday when they see the tractor. One will follow it, and if the tractor goes anywhere near The abattoir, suddenly the numbers grow. Ravens aren’t nearly as social as crows, usually hanging out in pairs or small family groups, but will band together in an “Unkindness” like this for special occasions… like Friday, or whenever BIL gets around to emptying the trim bins from the meat cutting days, and for running off Eagles during nesting season. The eagles and Vultures usually just hang out at the pit and wait.

Ravens are very cool. I love to hear about how they live. Thanks!

Funny you should say that but I am yearning for a brown egg even though I really want neither of those ladies to lay! I just get Roadrunner and specifically Minnie eggs which are a pretty blue and very mini.
