Good morning.:frow Jaffar had a lovely night, but this morning he did start to crow! I took him from the chickens room, and he’s laying on my chest now. Nice and quiet. We can hear the rain falling on the roof. (I asked Jaffar if he wanted to go out into that weather) nope. He’s laying quietly on me. I’m sure glad that he’s a Bantam, just saying:old

Fluffy Butt Friday
At 5:40am (well before light) Maggie decided it was time to get up.
For a hen who only a couple of months ago couldn’t stand upright or balance on a roost, she seems to be managing quite well.
She is also providing me with some night-vision fluffy butt shots!
The urgency of getting out of bed turned out to be to go lay an egg! I can’t remember the last time Maggie laid.
It is a perfect pale brown egg.
I will have it with toast for lunch.
Happy Friday everyone.

I don’t want to take Jaffar out to the coop. I don’t want his feathered feet to get muddy in the run. I don’t want to have a muddy buddy :gig But I do have to get him and Arizona some breakfast. What do I give a rooster, when he already has everything?
If you ended up cursing me with boys, your giving him brothers/sons in a few months time.

I didn’t curse you. I’m sorry that my joke went too far, but the genetics in your tribe, have a strong male gene. I do suspect some boys are coming
I know and I was just kidding. Your right, there is a strong male genetic line in my flock. The 7 chicks I'm scrutinizing every day though are not from my flock. 6 were bought as sexed pullets and Ezzie is the result of Chiquita and one of the males she was housed with before I got her. In theory I should only have to worry about Ezzie, but we all know hatcheries can not be 100% accurate in sexing chicks. Now, out of these 7, if I end up with multiple boys I give up and will just accept that all I'm destined to have is boys.
