Just got this Maryanne pic with the caption, "she's fitting in perfectly." Maryanne is the one front and center. Always the "people chicken", I'm sure she's the first in line for some snacks and attention. 🥰👍

So good to see her happily integrating.

A friend of mine gave me a wonderful gift. It is an old book - printed in 1881 in NY. It is called 'Barn Plans and Out-buildings'.
It is full of diagrams and building plans. There is a whole chapter on chicken houses. This is one of the more unusual designs.

And here is a design for providing heat during extremely cold nights using an underground stove.

Wow those are wonderful, I love seeing those old texts which contain good advice 😊

My dog has just given me a good telling off because I've just sat on his paw 🐶
Awwww poor little man 😊, I am sure he forgives you.

I trod on buttercups foot yesterday when she got underfoot last night, boy oh boy did she ever squawk! I was wearing my hard soled safety boots ☹️

She is ok tho and not lame today.... So thankfully ok.

A treasure for your book collection! What a thoughtful gift!

That's an interesting coop design with the roosts above the nests. I can see what they're getting at but it doesn't look like it offers much ventilation at the very top roost, where I assume most of the chickens would go at night. In the right climate (not mine), it would be cosy up there. Where I live I doubt hens would survive if they roosted up there. It'd be far too hot.
