Happy Pony Sunday! Will have to post a pic of mucky ponies later.

First I need to fix the huge ruts I put in the turf going to the barn yesterday to drop off feed.

I was supposed to get a pile of round bales to stock up for spring breakup of frost today.

Unfortunately frost came out way too fast!!! Ol Blue did a great job of leaving ruts up to a foot deep in the turf, I don't dare go back there with a couple of round bales loaded on him!

So now I will need to go and stomp down the ruts so that I can mow the grass back there later in the season 🤔.

Last weekend it was a blizzard... this weekend it's Spring hahaha, only in Canada, eh?

I love spring.

It's sunny but very cold here

Mix rain and snow here but hey it's not -20 so it's all good! And the chickies have been having a blast digging in the mud and crud.... 😊

The horses have been hanging out in the front paddock picking at old grass and checking for any new shoots coming up.

I need to get my paddocks sprayed with a herbicide to kill off the white clover, golden rod, and buttercup plants in the next month or so. Unfortunately I can't get any herbicides here unless you have a license to purchase. We have the same issue getting mouse and rat poison, the stuff they sell to the public is useless and a complete waste of money....

So road trip to the US next month so I can get some Dicamba - need to get rid of those weed plants as they are bad for my horses. The white clover causes founder and buttercup plants are poisonous to horses. Golden rod while not poisonous is just a nuisance plant.

First though need to fill the ruts I created yesterday... Oh joy. Gotta love Spring!

I'd be to worried to use any form of chemicals near my animal's and where the local wild life are . But as for the mice I'm going to be looking for other ways to keep them out of my garden and away from my chickens.

Poisonous substances would kill the wildlife which bothers me . I really must look into the battery mouse trap.

Here is the last trap I have been looking at...
Rat trap

I think I have posted before that I use a couple of those. They are very effective and instantaneous. They aren't cheap though.
I originally bought them when I had a terrible mouse probem in the house, and more recently I used them as part of the eradication of rodents from the Chicken Palace. One really good thing about them is that the chickens can't get in them! To be safe I pointed the open end towards a wall so the incuisitive Princesses couldn't even get their beaks in.
The snap traps which are my other main weapon have to be put down after the chickens are locked up and taken back up before letting them out to play.

Nope, same here in New England! But I'm not at all complaining about Spring. Neither are the chickens:
