I'll get official 5 week old pictures tomorrow. I was looking the ones I bought over real close tonight. I think I have 2 boys in the bunch. All 3 buff orps I'm fairly confident the hatchery got right and they are indeed girls. Of the EEs, I think there is only 1 girl. While they do not have any combs to speak of yet, 2 of them in the last few days are turning pink. My heart sunk when I saw the pink tonight, As far as little Ezzie goes I will not know for sure for a long time yet, but her colors that are coming in look so soft and feminine. I told Rosie that if 2 of the EEs are for sure boys I will forsake my named chicks and let her call the other 2 Buff chicks Wasabi and Sriracha or Siri for short.
We were so sure Alinta was a boy, she had a way bigger comb than her sister, and pinker too.

That is very nice of you to say. I've have had some very loyal people over the years. I take great pride in the number of people whose careers I have touched which have exceeded my own.

Oh I am glad I am not the only one with chicken ornaments 🙂

And I’m a little early, but I kinda like this twofer.

I suspect it is more that most people don't understand that it isn't viable unless incubated, so to them it seems kinda 'icky'. I am sure her grandma knows this, but many people have asked me if there might be a chick inside and how am I sure there isn't if there is a Rooster around. Also, regarding bug, worms, etc. It is much easier, in that sense, to 'fool yourself' by buying 'hygenically' preppped & 'sealed' eggs, where you don't have to think about where they came from, what they ate, nor how they lived. It is just plain easier.

I gave a co-worked some smoked chicken (she said she would like to try it). Months later I found out she had thrown it out because she 'couldn't eat it'. She had come to my house ONCE and seen my chickens...a year before. She said she couldn't eat it because she 'knew' my chickens. I asked her how...it wasn't even one that was hatched yet when she came over...she said....but I've seen them, and they all looked happy...I couldn't eat that, I'll get my chicken from the store, thank you."

Honestly, what p#^&ed me off the most was she threw it away instead of giving it back or offering it to a friend. I did, later when I could say it calmly, tell her how much it bothered me that she threw it away, because that meant that the chickens life was 'wasted'. He died to be thrown away!:hitSo disrespectful of him and his life (I didn't say that part). But, it all goes back to "I'll have my steak and roast chicken...but I don't want to know where it came from.":( We want to continue to be omnivours without having to deal with the realities of being an omnivour.
^^^ insert my usual soapbox rant here^^^ just like my cousin… who has never seen my chickens but assumed that because it was raised on our farm it’s somehow not as good as what she is buying at Safeway… 🤦‍♀️ won’t eat my eggs because they aren’t commercially washed 🤦‍♀️ just say “no thank you” don’t accept the food and then toss it 😡😡😡

It's ok they have their say in their own opinion.

I make sure I give my eggs to those who appreciate them 💖

I don't even have green grass really at this point this year. 😔
Wow beautiful Magnolia amazing, my tree was like that, then we had a wicked bad winter one year I was away and the rabbits chewed the bark off the tree at the 3' high mark the snow was that deep.

The tree didn't survive but has sent up suckers which I have been trying to grow up.....
