I was about to head to the house when all of a sudden Whiskers let out this unholy screech! And split second later the others also joined in! I about jumped out of my skin! They all froze then ....

Well I sniffled and they let out another screech! And froze - I tried another sniffle to see what they would do. Nothing..?

So did they see something fly by the barn door windows? Guess I will never know.

But one thing is for sure! It freaked me out!

Something interesting: those stick tight fleas, (WILL STICK ON HUMANS) also. So be aware of that. I have been treating my hens, and found several on myself. :old
They are not the type of fleas that are found on dogs or cats. But can be spread by them.
Have you treated with ivermectin? That will be the only real way to knock them down. You need an antiparasitic to get rid of them, and dust the hen house and coops with a antiparasitic dust/ powder or spray.

That would be GREAT! Aside from sex links with mom barred and dad not, I don't know a lot about genetics and sex linking, so that would be great to learn more. I need to buy that poultry 'bible' everyone raves about. It is quite expensive, though. Maybe next year for Christmas or my B-day, if I give enough hints, I might get it.......
Google auto-sexing chicken breeds. There's several decent articles about them. I say decent because none go into the kind of historical detail/selective process to get to where they breed true, but some good basic info.
