A formal introduction: Bernadette (aka Birdie)
Birdie is a brave little soul. She was the first to come out from under the heat cave, the first to explore the top of the heat plate, and the first to do acrobatics on the branches. She is a pecker constantly looking out for things to peck at. She has pecked both her sisters and when I put my hand in she pecks my fingers while everyone else shrieks and runs away.
Bernadette means 'brave as a bear' and I think she is as brave as a bear. Maybe even braver than a bear pound for
pound ounce.
Birdie is a Welbar. Congratulations - both
@rural mouse and
@micstrachan win this with their Welsummer guess. Welbars are recognized as a separate breed to Welsummers in Britain, but not in the US. I think they are basically the same, but with Welbars you can tell gender at hatch. I think they are very pretty.
Here she is doing what she does.
