Had to go out and check the chooks. I wanted to see if I had and voluntary lap chickens or not. I wasn’t disappointed. Arizona and Dakota, Rocks-Anne, and Coco, all wanted lap, shoulder and hat time with me. Yay (I’m still loved )

I just love sunbathing chickens too.

When I first got chickens and the first time they flung out a wing and flopped to the ground I freaked out thought it had died!!! Hahahaha

I went to town. Bought some fence, cement and brackets. Then installed the fence temporarily, until I can cement in the posts. (Let’s see what the little buggers do now!) I know that they can fly, but I’m hoping that they choose not to try that fence!

Ooooohhh, what are those buff/gold-ish bodied girls with black neck/head & tail. Lovely girls - very striking contrast

Sadly they are not my favourite girls. They are Vorwerks, a German breed. I have found them very dominant [not a good fit for my tribe] & not particularly hardy. I won't ever get them again.

To be fair, Gus isn’t crazy, unless it’s for scritches.

Yes, not going to let them out yet - there is nothing in my bathroom for them anyway. Their space is decent - it is a circle - diamater about 29" so what is that 4+ square feet - so I think they can stay put for a bit longer - and then I will move them out to the brooder box in the coop which is 2'x3'. I think they will be fine.
Now she has discovered bathing she is doing it all the time. She discovered she can do it in the shavings too. It is her new hobby!

Love these little guys! What I think would satisfy them for awhile is not necessarily the size of the space but to change it up, like move the contents around and change the angles of approach and dismount, so their routine of moving within the space is different and they have new challenges. Thus: "Oh wow, this stick is steep now! Maybe I need to fly up there, it's more than I can jump....Look at the view! Hey what is that? A new perch? Okay, lets see....Oh.....Yeah! Now I can jump on Lulu from here! Weeeeeee!"
