Tried to get a pic of Missy all day finally able to snap quick one, she was trying her darndest to get me to let her out! Sorry Moggy but time to be in for the day.

Sorry @ChicoryBlue , I read your post after posting this.....you are more than welcome to assist with the secretary duties...just @RoyalChick had mentions she wasn't so sure about her doing it solo.

Thank you. I've thought of this a lot, as I remember you said something similar then. I wonder, would I be trying to replace her out of guilt, or would it be in her honor? I think when it comes down to it the hen will be her own chicken and will show me a different personality, so I needn't worry. So it's definitely in my ideas for the future but there are some practical issues to solve first. Yes, secretly I want someone to show up with a Buff or two that need a new home....

The loss of Drumstick and having 2 of his sons, 1 of whom is identical to him proves to me each chicken has their own personality. Both of his sons are good boys, but neither are the love bug that Drummie was. Branch honestly even though he is a silkie is the closest one to having Drummie's personality. It helps having his boys, in a way even more so that they are different then he was. I love them both, each for their own attitudes. Even Basil, who is his spitting image but likes me the least. He is good with the girls and chicks and is ever watchful. He is just terrified of snakes as he proved when Branch was showing off his snake kill yesterday. He was tossing it around and once it landed on Basils back. Basil shot 5 feet straight up in the air and then ran.

Chicks were reduced to .50 each. Sadly I passed them up, all that was left were Cornish Cross. My heart breaks for those chicks knowing how fast they grow and their intended purpose. I do not eat my chickens, and I will not purchase any meat chicks. I did think long and hard about them wondering if with a restricted diet could I turn a few into pets,

@RebeccaBoyd you wouldn't be able to keep those healthy with restricted feed. Not long term. I raised them once...restricted access to feed for 12 hours a day from day 4 on. (I realize, that isn't strict feed control...but more than what is recommended for ones so young) and they were too heavy to act like chickens by 6-7 weeks of age. I will never raise them again. It was best you left them - they would have only brought you heartache...especially since they are quite docile, and you would have fallen in love. I call them Frankenchickens. It's shameful what we have done to them with breeding. Sometimes I'm very sad to say I'm a human.

I'm not angling for it, I'm not on the thread reliably enough to be "it", just thought I could do something. I will read through the thread and not skip ahead. But I may be days behind! Actually I would nominate @featherhead007 and @Ponypoor because they seem to be consistently on as long as they are awake, but heh heh no pressure (Really)

I'm not angling for it, I'm not on the thread reliably enough to be "it", just thought I could do something. I will read through the thread and not skip ahead. But I may be days behind! Actually I would nominate @featherhead007 and @Ponypoor because they seem to be consistently on as long as they are awake, but heh heh no pressure (Really)

I am totally fine doing it but also happy if someone else would prefer to.
It is 19 hours and I am not yet behind!
