Don’t forget humble
Study and “research” (which isn’t really research, of course, using the term as it is generally used…) not wisdom at all. I think all we can do is middle through these things the best we can for the most part. I had some limited first hand experiences with my grandma, and lots of listening to my mom talk about the challenges she was having with her, and now I am trying to just do better with my own mother. I’m really just gathering and trying different strategies developed by people with far more experience. Because my first instinct is always to correct, or honestly tell something, or to try and make her happy with a good recollection, not realizing my phrasing it “remember when…” was actually triggering a hostile response.Kris there was a movie way back when about a family who's (I think father) was diagnosed with a disease that affected his memory. Wish I could remember the name of that movie.
Anyways the family initiated a story and gave the man a whole new 'life' due to the fact that trying to tell the truth to him affected him so badly.
Hmmm now that I am think about it, I think the man couldn't come to terms with a terminal diagnosis. And became delusional.
It was a eureka moment for me as a Nurse, and I started 'going along' with my geriatric patients' memories. Some of their families were very upset with me, but many realized that going along reduced confrontational situations.
You too are a very wise personto recognize this

Chickens will most certainly snack on baby swallowsEvening chores done, Misty removed from her straw bale throne and put in with the rest her ladies in waiting.
Horses all fed, and one lone barn swallow roosting in the barn tonight. Which is normal, there is always one who stays inside, not sure where the rest go... Once they start nesting then they all roost inside at night.
My migraine has returned and my stye on my eye is miserable the swelling is now down into my cheek - I told Misty to give a good peck to burst it - she declined hahaha
Madam Barn Swallow roosting on the power cable, such a handy place to build nests. I wonder, will chickens eat baby barn swallows if they fall from the nest

I agree on leaving it in and on for a while… can they even still fit under it?Hooligans sleeping on top of, rather than under their heat plate. This is the second night. I am not sure whether to turn it off as it is getting cold again later I the week - down to about 35 degrees.

I could 'see' all that!!Now if I could just get the little psycho to stop stepping on them! She’s settling into the airlift routine again. Morning: attack the door, burst out attack some of her flockmates (she has no tribe, the human is hers, and that one rooster the human favours may occasionally get close to her) herd the human carrying the chicks to the pen of safety, settle in for the day. Evening: human picks up the pen edge, burst forth again, may have a cockerel or two to attack. Once the human has collected the babies hop up and growl and puff until she gets also picked up and carried to the trailer. Struggle like crazy upon seeing the roosts fly, demand to be let back into the broody box…accept chicks, tuck and settle. Rinse and repeat.![]()
Awww poor JaffarJust happened: Jaffar was getting testy with me in the coop, and Xzit jumped off her perch 8 ft up, and landing on Jaffar, pecked his head! I bet she said “don’t hurt our daddy, we love him and his treats “![]()
