I missed Twos Day but half the time I don’t know what day it is so… little Fluff and sibling View attachment 3082228
OMG, she looks so good! I am glad they are doing well. :) 🥰 ❤️

And, honestly, except for in the corporate world, it really doesn't matter what day it is. Animals need to be fed, watered, etc..chores, planting, harvesting, whatever based on the season, not the day.

Bed time is not a peaceful time with these babies.
The big Princesses are all preened and roosted and ready to sleep.
Watch these guys!
There is a full two minutes here, but it goes on for much longer.
They aren’t cold are they? I did raise the plate so they can all fit under but they weren’t interested and went up on top as normal. If anyone thinks this is because they are cold please tell me and I will go out and stuff them under the plate.

No, I don't think this is them being cold, it doesn't sound like a distress call. It just sounds like 'tweens at a sleep-over':gig

For anyone who hasn’t read my biography, I was law enforcement most of my life

I didn't know that. Thank you for protecting and serving. It is a very hard job and you have my utmost respect.
I was referring to your time in law enforcement.

Jaffar also has my utmost respect too, of course!

Thanks - that is what I thought because there is no mistaking the urgent bleating they make if they get separated from each other and feel scared - but I am a bit nervous as it is going down to the mid-30s again tonight.
I will check on them a bit later but it likely won't get that cold inside the Chicken Palace.

They sound contented to me. Happy little chicks 🐥!

I expect some awesome rock pics 💖

My mum has never had any injury or pain till she pulled something a couple months ago shovelling snow... I told her she has sciatic!
No new pics yet, I was busy chasing a little chick back under the fence to her home next door. Cutest little thing. Yep, looked like a yellow-Ish chipmunk. She easily ran through a chain link fence. She’s safely back home. I’m glad I didn’t hold her, I would have kept her! :barnie

What dose did u used with the Meloxicam? It's also used in cats and horses.

Meloxicam is a selective Cox-2 inhibitor very similar to Celebrex.

Naproxen (Aleve) is a Cox-1.

Cox 2 are safer for the gut and not as corrosive to stomach lining as Cox1 like naproxen. Though IMHO naproxen is a better pain reliever than Meloxicam or Celebrex.

You will be familiar with the term NSAID I am sure, and that is what they are.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not an NSAID, as it doesn't reduce inflammation. But it is good for minor pain and fever relief .

Other pain meds will fall into opioids like codien, tramadol, etc. Effective pain relief but prone to habit forming, and also the longer they are used the less effective they become ☹️. They act on the central nervous system, but don't reduce inflammation.

And all meds come with their own issues. It's no wonder pain control is such a huge thing!
I gave her a little under half the dose prescribed to Roostie, because he was over 13lbs and the hen was significantly smaller, it was a little under .5ml I think. I’ve also given it to one rescue that didn’t make it last summer… got the “sick chicken” call by the time it was far too late to do anything but ease her pain a little, she passed within five hours of bringing her up. I have found it makes them a little dopey, very quickly. It’s a 1.5mg/ml. Maybe it was just my calming presence holding her that did the trick? I have some leftover from Roostie’s prescription and have been giving it to in obvious pain chickens… so just the two so far, it really seemed to help, but of course with patients that can’t tell you what hurts/helps all I really had to gauge that is my observation

You forgot to mention they don’t give a bok about daylight savings time either! 😂
