Got a heart warming one this morning....that won't load....

I turned down the corner of the cardboard to add more heat. This one is smart… ish. I have found the hot breeze, but am going to fall asleep and fall off the heat plate leg. I am also betting on this one to be the first to escape the cardboard walls of the very temporary brooder. I usually brood under the tongue of the fifth wheel or in the barn, but with the unpredictable weather we have been getting and the barn occupied by the goats. I guess the living room has space. The cats would have loved this. Whisper would have been trying to sit on them, Charlie would just watch, and Bullet would want to hunt them. View attachment 3100771

Buttercup is better this morning, but still a little sore. I took her down this morning before she had a chance to hurt herself (though she was one roost lower than when she went to bed last night.)

I’m feeling better, but still congested and tired. I think it will be a few more days, but that’s OK!

Finally! It loaded!

We ordered 74 (maximum per order) they shipped 79, so we have 78 as of this morning. I believe I have spotted several more bottoms that need further attention, though I thought I had them all functional last night. I lost my heat plate battery at 11:30pm and 4:30am. And had some huddling this morning by 7am, but that was quickly resolved by the application of feed. Guessing based on wing feathers and size we are between 2-4 days old, maybe a few of these hatched out on the fourth, but by no means the majority.View attachment 3100747View attachment 3100728

I take it, Phyllis and Betty have been getting along well?

Overall the pecking and dominance displays have settled down and things seem much calmer through the tribe. Everyone seems to be getting along pretty well these days.

So to answer your question, they are spending more time together without incident. So I guess they are getting along better.
