Awwwww 🤗 adorable

Sooooo, seems Curly might be going broody - again.... if I can get a project here working for me home I might give her a few eggs to hatch - maybe some black copper Marans... ?

Do you guys think she (a silkie) can sit on 4 eggs of that size?
I think @RebeccaBoyd can probably best answer that.

Not good to push it, with Covid, whether short- or long-haul. I also had to give a "wow" to what I understood to be your office policy - you can, or have to, go back at Day 11 even if you are still testing positive? That astounds me. Is that the latest, that one is not infectious even with a positive test, at Day 11?
I don’t get it. We follow CDPH and OSHA rules strictly, so maybe? Wishing I had taken care of COVID sick time that doesn’t affect my regular qqqqqqq
In good, but painful news, Dotty has experienced the electric fence.
It was distressing to watch. She was trying to eat the bottom horizontal wire (which is not live) and her comb touched the next wire up (which is live). That is exactly how it is supposed to work I guess.
She shot 3’ in the air vertically and ran off shrieking and leaping in the air like the whole ground was zapping her (which it wasn’t).
Now I have to hope:
- she is smart enough not to do that again
- she realizes that she should not touch any part of the fence, it isn't just that specific spot she needs to avoid
- she has sufficient community spirit to teach the others so they don’t all need to learn by experience
- the foxes have the same reaction

Tax - my ladies out exploring the wilderness.

Poor Dotty! Glad it was so effective!

Dotty is a scientist committed to repeatable experimental results.
She went to the exact same spot (well +/- a foot) and paced up and down tutting anxiously.
Then she stuck her head into the net.
She got shocked and she didn’t like it. But this time she didn’t panic she just ran off tut-tutting loudly.
She then rounded up the others and they all went inside and refused to come out unless I was right there sitting in the run.
I hope this fence doesn’t have the opposite effect I intended - it was supposed to give them more freedom to be outside enjoying the grass.
:th

Give them a chance. Freedom and fresh grass always wins out in the end. Even over hawks.
