Poor Hattie She doesn't know what she is missing!
(or, maybe, the great Rooster doesn't break up the walnut into small enough pieces for the gentile lady?)

I also don't like walnuts so I think Hattie has it right.

Right now, she is not having difficulty breathing thankfully. I watched her yesterday as we spent the day out mowing and I took over stall duty. I did not have to do stalls, but I needed a break of hard physical labor to get rid of frustration and so whether they needed it or not they got gutted. While I was out there Daisy stayed fairly close. She had a better apatite and was underfoot trying to search for any goodies the horses had dropped. She felt like digging in the manure pile as well and had several dust bathing sessions. I did catch her i think 3 times standing in a position with her tail hanging down that suggested she was uncomfortable but it did not last long. My vet has property he bought a mile up the road that he is logging and getting ready to put cattle on so he is all the time up in our holler. I made a point to watch for him yesterday afternoon and stopped him on his way out to have him feel the mass. He did and while he said he is no chicken expert in his opinion it is not a abscess but a tumor. We discussed the antibiotics I had on hand and does not think they will have any affect. I can give her baby aspirin for pain if I feel it is needed. He pretty much confirmed what I suspect and will do. Keep a eye on her, the minute she takes a downward turn end her suffering. I may have her another day or week or maybe longer but I doubt much longer. When the time comes she is being buried in a spot of honor under our River Birch tree beside my old golden retriever and 2 previous house bunnies.

Awww… I’m so sorry Daisy is feeling so poorly.

Welcome you have a very lovely flock and pretty kitties. I can not wait to see the ponies when you get them. A couple of us have horses on here, I have 3. I would also love to see more photo's of your handsome boy. I will freely admit that while I love every single girl I have, my heart belongs to my boys.

I am so sorry for Daisy and for you. She certainly has lived her best life even if she is young, and I'm sure you will make her departure as smooth as possible .

Before we get ponies we need to build a shed and finish repairing the rooves on the old house we will use as a barn. Also, no vet or farrier will come here, so I want to see with my neighbor that has just brought in a rescue horse how we can work this out.

He's a handsome lad. He'll mellow out with time. My little Cheetah hits a year old end of this month and has actually been a pretty good boy...so far...his predecessor's predecessor was a big brat and my lead hen would hide from him or get fed on top of the nest boxes. Otherwise he wouldn't leave her alone long enough for her to eat or drink. She's taught all the girls how to avoid unwanted attentions and will permit Cheetah's attention....occassionally. Pear, the 2nd hen, won't let him at all, and the rest are all at a sometimes, but not incessantly.

Yes - chocolate capital I love chocolate but it hates me - gives me migraines, but I still eat it and enjoy it... Yummy!

Hmmmm.,.

Is chocolate toxic to chickens? I dropped a Oh Henry chunk on the ground, and Buttercup took off with it, I couldn't get it she ate it she was ok but now I hid in the feedroom when I get the munchies...

Also I think I know why Blanche is laying crazy eggs, she is going through a molt! I noticed she had patches where new feathers were growing in, and her head also. At least I am hoping that is the cause.
