That is how they did it in newfoundland when my grandmother was a girl.

It was the girls' job to cut and make hay the men and boys were out on the fishing boats.

So the men went out to do the hard work ?

Good morning Everyone, here are some photos of my gals

Lulu is 20 yrs old she is a snowcap Pony-of-the-americas

Sally is 22 she still a a roan Pony-of-the-americas

Truly is 20 yrs old and am Arabian

Reenie is 21 yrs old and she is a thoroughbred. Silly girl got the ear on her fly mask off some how, it protects their ears free m blackflies.

There it's fixed

And my gals out for some free ranging ( they need rounding up they are over on my neighbours!)

Some visitors, Canada Geese flying into my neighbours back yard.

Well actually it was quite dangerous and cold wet hard work back then...

Now there is so much automation with nets, boats are safer... And yet still boats flip and people die

I tried to find some pictures that show both the setting, and picking the hay.
We don't have that much, the land is steep, and it's been fun doing it the old way...when we are many.
When there's only the two of us we do it one patch of land at at time when the weather allows it and the grass is right.

Wow. That looks way more difficult than what I used to do and I loved and hated doing hay. Loved the money I earned hated the hot miserable day. You are quite dedicated to go to those lengths for hay. Of course, I'm not certain you would have any other way to do it with those hills!

They finally settled under her, one outside her feet, covered by her wing and the other between her feet, both facing the other way from mama.

I didn’t notice the spoiler until @bgmathteach comment.... this is the most adorable thing!!!!
