Well actually it was quite dangerous and cold wet hard work back then...So the men went out to do the hard work?
Wow. That looks way more difficult than what I used to do and I loved and hated doing hay. Loved the money I earned hated the hot miserable day. You are quite dedicated to go to those lengths for hay. Of course, I'm not certain you would have any other way to do it with those hills!I tried to find some pictures that show both the setting, and picking the hay.
We don't have that much, the land is steep, and it's been fun doing it the old way...when we are many.
When there's only the two of us we do it one patch of land at at time when the weather allows it and the grass is right.

I didn’t notice the spoiler until @bgmathteach comment.... this is the most adorable thing!!!!They say a picture is worth a thousand words....I don't have storage space for ANY videos, so here's a picture story (backstory: they all somehow got locked out of the coop, and the hobbit lot proved they can drink out of the nipple waterer.)

They finally settled under her, one outside her feet, covered by her wing and the other between her feet, both facing the other way from mama.
Well actually it was quite dangerous and cold wet hard work back then...
Now there is so much automation with nets, boats are safer... And yet still boats flip and people die![]()
