The roo in the last link is quite handsome! He looks small (?maybe framing of pic?) Is he a Wlesummer? Again, he seems small for that, but what gorgeous colouring!

Is he young (like 1 ish?) They do tend to calm down and be more respectful in future spring seasons. Give him time to mature....really, they are not unlike teenage boys...all gropey and such, lol. But then the hormonal teenagers grow into fine young men for the most part.

Théo is my only rooster, it's him again on that picture. He likes to pose.
He's a backyard mutt, given to us by a farmer in our village. He's a mix of bantam and standard so he's a bit smaller than the smallest of my ex-batts.
I don't know his age either. We got him early December as a cockerel. When I asked for an opinion on his age on BYC I was told he was between 3 and 6 months then, so he would be between 9 and 12 now. I do exactly think of him as a teenager, his behaviour has changed a lot throughout these six months and I think he's not an adult yet.

Why not? Actually the fibers don’t get broken up inside the crop and leads to impacted crop.

I was very relieved to hear Jaffar crowing out in the yard. I had thrown out some scratch with safflower seeds on the ground and the chooks started scratching around for it. Jaffar started feeding as well. Now, they are all chasing June beetles, that started showing up today. I’m keeping a close eye on the little guy today though.

I’m happy to hear this update. I actually logged on just to find out if he was OK.

Good to know. I need to cut back the grass is the hen run my poor Silkies keep getting lost in the tall grass hahaha. Also if as you say some grass can cause impaction then I need to prevent that.

So, can you contact your Vet for advise regarding the crop/impaction and what you are feeling? I honestly suspect the blockage is further down. Given the timing, and that fact that she could have had a substantial load of worms, I really suspect a blockage from the worms. However, that is soley a gut reaction...not any medical knowledge. Just like @MaryJanet , it seems too much of a coincidence.

I don't know if these images help you or not. I suspect it is really difficult to feel the proventriculus

I fear you may be right about the blockage being downstream in which case there is nothing that can be done about it.

I'm so sorry to read this.
Is she still acting more or less normally, or do you think she is in pain ?

Not in pain I don't think. She act more or less normally but subdued. She is drinking and eating a little. I am restricting her food to chick starter mash and grit. She takes some of both and sometimes she voluntarily eats the coconut oil I am giving her to try and lubricate stuff.
She chats to her buddies who sit nearby on their day perch and preen.
I think her crop is a little less huge today, but that might just be reduced intake as it clearly is not empty! The miconazole is killing the yeast/thrush so the smell continues to reduce as do the fermentation bubbles I hear when I massage.
She really likes the massage - she sort of relaxes in my arms and closes her eyes - I wonder if it feels good because she certainly tries to adjust it a bit herself.
Poor baby.

Fluids and keep her moving.

I like the idea of raw eggs to eat, and if can get sugar water into her that's good also.

Also get her moving, movement helps with the motility of the gut and could help clear any blockage.
