There is one teeny, tiny problem I have to figure out if Chiquita goes full on broody. It is her nest location. The brat has chosen one of the porch boxes. The favorite porch box actually. Not only will this cause a issue with 3 of the other girls who all fight over that box, how am I going to sneak eggs under her without mom knowing. Any other spot and I could set her and pretend I did not know she was setting, but not on the porch. I will have grandma on my side though, she wants "Fuzzy" to hatch chicks. She even wanted me to give Bunny a "Fuzzy" egg when I set her. And yes, she is trying to rename another of my chickens. To everyone else now Bubba is "Big Red". She calls Branch "Big Bird" which mom loves more then Branch, and Chiquita is now "Fuzzy".

Are those the names of chickens she had as a girl?

If watching Chiquita hatch chicks helps keep her calm....

Is there room to stack more boxes? Go vertical?

It's also good for deep cleaning the toilet. Makes the porcelain shine.

These guys graze like cattle and goats. Only a couple are picky. Most eat everything to include most types of grass, acorns, figs, blackberries, apples, pears, raw eggs, popcorn, spicy cheetos and of course any flavor of protein known to man.

Nope. She decided that it’s better out scratching around than setting on eggs. But I left her egg alone and collected all the others

She is being picked on by the others though. Lost her place in the pecking order?

I don't know what to make of Misty - is she going broody or what? She is going cluck cluck cluck like a broody hen... She is happy to sit in the nest box all night... She sounds like some demon from The Exorcist if you go near her box... But she is also out and about. I feel that she is also trying to figure it all out!

One would think that she would have some idea of what to do what with Fluffy and Curly going broody at the drop of a hat!

I am not even sure if she laid an egg today, she did yesterday... Guess time will tell.
