Yes I know. It was Shad who ages ago explained that you needed to be firm, and then I thought about what the massage is doing - it isn't a muscle relaxation aid, or a way of increasing blood circulation, it is really physically breaking up the blockage and pushing the crop contents through to the next stage of the GI tract. That gave me courage.
The concern I always have is not pushing stuff too high up so there is a risk of aspiration.
I find myself groping chickens now 😆

Not sure what they think I am doing, but they sure give me the stink eye! Haha!

I may be speaking too soon, and I'll know for sure in about 30 minutes when I round everyone up for bed. Someone has been on the nest, on her egg that she laid since about 9 am this morning. Very puffy and bitey as well when spoken too. Cross your fingers people, Chiquita may finally be ready to set. She is also in a secret spot in the dog lot coop. I can set this girl if it's true and mom will be none the wiser.
Oh I am so envious. 😊 But I will live vicariously through you if she does set💖

There have been two high profile cases here involving drinking, speeding, (drivers with multiple convictions where mommy and daddy bailed them out), and the death of whole families: one where all 4 children, grandpa and Gramma killed several years ago (and the dad killed himself this past father's day 😥 - depression), and a mother and her 3 daughters a couple years ago.

I am just furious just plain furious. So I hold nothing back when it comes to drinking, driving and multiple convictions where money talks 😡😡

These people I am sure are now pariahs in the community. At least I hope.

😢😢😢😢😢

Ok this is not the place to vent - sorry to be a Debbie Downer. I will make it up tomorrow with lots of happy Chickie pics 💖

And I need to go to the Feedmill, so might take trip to Neighbours Country Feedmill - see what chicks they have 🤗
Terrible people. I taught my girls that a vehicle was a weapon when they were learning to drive. To ruin so many lives so callously.

It really angers me. Sorry everyone.

It is official, angry Chiquita is broody and is on 2 eggs. I would like to give her more but I really do not need more chicks, and I had not properly been storing her eggs for setting. She has today's egg and Thursday's egg. Rosie ate yesterday's egg darn it. I also do not want her to have any of the big girls eggs as they just grow too fast for her to properly cover the chicks for more then a week or so. When I went out to check on her I had the 2nd egg in my hand. She was in the corner of her hiding spot so I set the egg down for a second and she hopped off the nest and rolled it to the other one and settled right back down. For my records I will count tomorrow as the official day 1.

I sure hope it works out! :fl

This is so exciting! :wee:wee

Talking of spoilt chickens...
And I thought I was the only one that had to put chickens to bed!! Now I don't feel so bad, as it seems to be the majority of your tribe needs 'encouragement' to roost IN the coop:lau Thank goodness I don't have as high a percentage as you...with almost 80 birds,,I would never get to bed myself! As it is, I have 13-15 that have to be put into the coop nightly. Plus the ducks.....they just want to party at night and it takes them FOREVER to decide...'oh, yeah, I guess Mommy is getting pretty perturbed...maybe we aught to go to bed now"

I do have to say, though...all of your girls are so gorgeous AND obliging when you 'escort' them to bed:love...thanks for the video

Nearly all my bantams & 1 or 2 others. My large standards all go in the shed as they are meant to. I have 16 hens so not quite the majority. 😀 The Japs & D'Uccles are wonderful to handle. They are very easy. No muss, no fuss.
