Ok folks, we have to pause the trip down memory lane for a minute because I am stumped. We also need to revisit the "Cinnamon Queen, Isa Brown or even Red Sex-link" issue all over again. The Hooligans will be 5 months in just over a week and a half. I figured I should start looking for new eggs around the 2nd week of August maybe. I have a egg that is throwing me for a loop. Every single current laying hens egg is accounted for today except Momma hens. She lays a white egg so she does not figure into this equation. I go out to top off water and look in the corner of Russ's stall, what the heck another egg? Not only that this thing is a monster.
Here is the mystery egg beside Butter's egg. Butter also lays my biggest eggs.

This thing is huge and I cannot close the lid on that carton without breaking it

For people on here that have had them, do those look like Cinnamon Queen or Isa brown eggs? Did Rural King actually have them marked right and they are not Mystery Red Chickens after all?

I just cannot see that being a pullet egg, but good lord what else can it be? I do know in the next few days I'm going to be stalking that area to see if I can catch the culprit. I also suppose if more then one of them a day start appearing soon I'll know my answer.
Yes, yes, and yes.

ISA Browns, Cinnamon Queens, etc are all similar, but slightly different 'mixing' for breeds to get high production girls. They are all a mix of 2 fairly high production breeds PLUS the added of hybrid vigor. ...by the mixing of 2 dif. breeds

They do tend to lay large eggs. Nearly all are large to extra large. I have one girl now who is 2 who lays roughly 3 out of every 4 eggs larger than my duck eggs and those large ones are double yolkers. I cringe each time a I see one. (Barely fit into a Jumbo carton size. If (as they are sometimes) they are slightly elongated, can not close the jumbo carton without breaking them.)

And, yes, they tend to be medium to dark brown. Clearly no where near as dark as a true copper marans egg, but most definitely a deeper brown. Mine tend to lay colors of brown that vary between the super large egg in the picture up to the color of the front right egg...anywhere in that range.

FYI: The few I have [all, at one point or another, gotten as a 'take them all' chickens for cheap (cheep? :gig ) Money at TSC because they were starting to fly and setting off the alarm at night.] Some would have one or two small-ish eggs (i.e. medium size...like that of a typical heritage BR egg), then large to extra large thereon. They start earlier than my traditional 'production BRs'...way earlier than my heritage BRs...so 16-18 weeks is about right. AND that could easily be her second egg...and you mistook the first for someone else's, or it was a shell-less and eaten - also common for first egg.

My 2 cents. I have only ever had a few (3-4) chicks each of the previous 2 years...with I think 8 last year. Others may have had a different experience...but they do worry me regarding the size of eggs.

All day (pretty much) Xzit has been right next to me. She snuggled up close, and I fell asleep. She didn’t move a muscle. I just woke up and she was still right next to me, under my arm. I’m the better rooster I guess! (Or maybe it’s the air conditioning she needs) :idunno
So, that means she gave up on the egg? Sorry it didn't hatch, but glad she has realized it should have hatched already if it was going to!

By the way….. Xzit is a fake barred rock. (Right @bgmathteach ?) :old
NO, NO, NO. She just isn't a 'heritage' BR. There is a difference between a known copy that is legit, and a forgery (fake). Xzit is NOT a forgery!!!

(Though it looks like she has FORGED her way into your heart!;) )

@BY Bob , I know it is hard to keep up on here, particularly with a full-time job.....I hope we aren't overwhelming you, especially with your upcoming audit!

I would love to see a homage to your other girls. ( I LOVED the one to Daisy, TGHE) YOU are the reason this thread is so successful and well loved. I would like to see more of you and your girls, if possible. While I know your relationships were different than mine to your girls....I am really missing Patsy and Miss Iron Break!

What a lovely group, and great pictures. I must say that though Janet mightn't be the showiest of your girls, I just love her. Her colouring is similar to my lighter DC girls, and that breed (with my BR girls) holds a special place in my heart:love (I know she isn't a DC girl, but the colouring...❤️
She's very beautiful. And very interested in the human house!
