It’s 103f again this evening. The chickens are handling the heat much better than I am. Humidity is high and no breeze to speak of. I guess that my makeshift water park is keeping them cool but, muddy chook prints all over my patio (it’s cute )

Crazy weather these days. Here it’s mostly been cool, and then when it gets hot no one is used to it.

Seems the only thing thriving is the mosquitoes!

I love this story! They are a little mini-Tribe. It is heartwarming that they want to stick together, I love how you are showing them the ropes in their new digs. They will figure it out! I hope they continue to stick together, Gucci is needing the development time, don't you think?

Yes. I think Gucci is behind. I am hopeful she will catch up with time. They will not be mixing with the big girls for a while. I need Gucci to be up to snuff before that happens. After so much time together it will be interesting to see how they integrate. If they do.

Just did chores and when I checked the chickies I could hear this rapid wheezing, of course I am immediately freaked out, so I turned on the light to see what’s up, and Rose is just wheezing and gurgling away panting,

The fan has stopped so I immediately put that back on the timer and wiped the window on the west side of the hen house open - figured the severe thunderstorm warning was now over.

I then double checked everyone else and came to the house to set my alarm for midnight to go out and check on her.

I also checked the weather again and seems we are back in the severe thunderstorm warning.



It might only be 26C but the air is like a sauna I am hoping Rose is just wheezing and gurgly because she is panting so fast. Anyways I will keep an eye on her on the camera till I check her at midnight.

I hope to hear that she is doing better later once the rain has come through. Poor thing.

Tonight's Roosting

Gucci would not go up the ramp again. I tried to shoo her up it again but she wasn't having it. I had to pick her up and put her in the coop.

Here they are as they roosted.

I placed Gucci on the roost and she stayed.

The Big ladies are all roosted tonight.

That photo of Ned is from 3/9, 5 days ago. He is such an amazing rooster. And very handsome.

I am so glad to see a recent photo of Ned, but I miss posts from @CrazyChookChookLady

I haven't seen her for a really long time.

It's so great that Ned has Cappy to teach as well. You should run a school for young roosters so we can have more trained on what it is to be a proper rooster.
