I know! I keep thinking about that. Bernadette is taller than Minnie now. She isn’t as bulky but she stands over her.
Maybe I will put her or her and Lulu in with Bella overnight.
I think that’s a great idea!

I am just stoked that Bernadette did this - amazing young lady 😊💕

It tends to shorten lifespans
Good to know. Of course Penelope also lays whoppers also! But she is 7 and now only lays about once a week.

But she’s not above steeling eggs and sitting on them for an hour or so, I am actually surprised she hasn’t been broody, but she is happy to kick a hen off her egg and sit on it for herself for an hour, and move to the next nest where someone has laid an egg!

Awe, no worries, the momma hens will care for the baby chickies.....isn't that the point of having a broody & giving them chicks??🤷‍♀️

Nope, I'm not an enabler..... I'm not, I'm not, I'm not (is it correct that if you say it enough times, it becomes the truth?)
You’re a very bad influence on me - all of you!

This is the thing people do not understand about chickens. They care for their friends. :hugs :hugs
Not to mention become friends with strange hens and want to roost with them! I found that to be amazing when my cousin brought her hens here. My silkies all of a sudden decided they wanted to do what the big ladies did and if that meant roosting 4’ off the ground then by heck or high water they were gonna get up there with them! And snuggle with them!!! All are accepted 😊

Damage assessment.
Both Minnie and Bernadette seem unscathed.
There is definitely something wrong with Bella’s leg, but I was worried about it before so I don’t think we can blame that all on Minnie.
And I have a 2” scratch down the inside of my arm which I think must have come from Bernadette’s toenails.
