Raw throat - not menthol, you want phenol for numbing action, it's an oral pain reliever - the stuff in chloraseptic spray....
It’s raw from a combo of being sick and bile acids from throwing up. Not sure vinegar would be a good choice at the moment!!!!
I took a swig of cough med with menthol in it and almost fainted from the burning pain!!!![]()
My poor chickies are so desperate to get outside, but my mum gave them spaghetti and some corned beef![]()
What kills some people and animals is not necessarily bad for chickens, a fact which is astounding to me.Oh she already is!
I don’t think it is that - the leaves look different.
I used PlantNet and came up with Apocynum cannabinum (try getting that past my iPhone autocorrect!). Often called Dogbane (because it kills dogs apparently).
I have never heard of it so reading up now and in the morning will go and look again to confirm.
Given everything I have read so far is all about how toxic it is to people and dogs I will only look at it from a distance.
Actually they doHave they learned to 'tap-tap-tap' on the window pane yet??![]()
Same with poke berry. I need to figure this Dogbane out - I don’t think birds spread it - it looks like the pods burst and seeds fly out on the wind. What kills some people and animals is not necessarily bad for chickens, a fact which is astounding to me.
I looked up this plant just the other day while on a bike ride, used Google Lens on my phone. It is White Baneberry ("Dolls Eyes"), in the Buttercup family. Apparently it's really deadly to humans, BUT NOT AT ALL to birds, which are the main vector for helping to spread it.

You can eat poke when it's still green, we did every spring in Kentucky. Once it changed color we let it be. When it's green the leaves are very similar to mustard greens.Same with poke berry.
