Hi folks. Popping in. All is well with my birds. All five of the older ones are in full blown molt and I think two of the three younger ones may start, too.

We had a significant (for California) storm last weekend. It’s wonderful, yet a little odd, to be seeing green sprouts everywhere. The chickens are loving it!

If anyone cares to fill me in if I’ve missed any big events the past couple weeks, I’d appreciate an update.

Thanks!!!

Your little umbrella is so cute there. We humans do so many things that are probably very silly in chicken's mind.
It was a warm rainy day in July 2020 and they used to hang out all the time together on that roost...yes, I quickly realized the concept of umbrella didn't make sense to them! Glad I got that photo because all in all I don't have that many of the six of them together.
Poor Sad Dorothy

She isn’t looking very chipper but I told her in a few weeks she will be resplendent again ❤️

It's so sad to see her like this. My only chicken that had a hard molt, the late Vanille, grew back such beautiful feathers that it was almost worth it. I hope it will be the same for Dorothy. She is such a beautiful hen.
I'm sure you are correct on it being wormwood but the unopened flowers are yellow at the moment

I got confused and had forgotten I ordered wormwood but I wasn't sure as I'd not ordered from that company before or since. I lost their details since changing my phone

Oh well that is pretty clear.
Sorry to cast doubt - I was thrown by the look of the flowers.
I couldn't tell which type of Artemisia though - I'm not that good recognizing plants.
As of 10 minutes ago I find myself with a problem I have not had in almost 2 years. Until tomorrow morning sometime, I do not have a single fresh egg. I have a whole dozen garbage eggs in the fridge :sick. I have a few new egg customers. Of course, if I keep them as customers this gives me a reason to add more girls right?
Wow! But, is it possible for you to buy point of lay pullets at this time of year ? Here they are only sold after the end of winter ?
