According to Rosie, if she had to take care of a body she would find a pig farm and toss the body in a pen in the middle of the night. In one way that should worry me. On the other hand, this is coming from someone who wants to be a forensic toxicologist or forensic pathologist. I guess with those job goals remarks like that will be all too common.

Happy equinox! Hope everyone had a good day. No pics of chickens today, just a Cooper's hawk. Came right into the yard after the song birds, but missed. Sat atop the light pole chirping for awhile afterwards.

I wonder if our chickens think this is going to be a bad winter? Last winter many of us had chickens moulting extremely late. This year, quite a few have started moulting early. Strange - I truly wonder if they know/sense something we don't? While last winter was hard on plants due to now/little snow cover, and though we had a a week of bitter, bitter cold, the average winter temp was warmer than normal in my area. I just can't believe that it is coincidence that so many are moulting early this year and so late last year....
