What about her detective job?

This is gorgeous, and the previous picture too. You are taking really wonderful pictures!

Are you giving her some extra protein? That is, if she’s eating layer it’s usually not a high-protein feed. Protein helps with making new feathers…
I am likely going to give her some scrambled eggs tomorrow as a treat just for her.

I would give her some chick feed but with the other vultures around they would likely eat it before her!

Eggs I can give her in the safety of the feed room.

I also wonder why chickens all over the world are moulting early. It's also the first year all of my adults moult at the same time, and it's quite scary.

I felt kind of bad taking pictures of molting butts. I left Chipie and Blanche in peace because they're the worst.

Why prefer bigger butts ? Smaller younger butts don't molt. Says Léa.

I love Merle’s eyes so big and expressive ❤️

They are all lovely ❤️

@knoturavggrl I finally got pictures of mine for you that are about a week behind yours, age-wise.

Hopefully the pictures are clear enough for you to see the difference in 'drapiness' & 'pointiness' of saddle feathers, BTW, I don't find hackle feathers a true indicator at this age, as both have 'semi-pointy/semi-round', and it is harder to tell. (Mostly, because at this age, all have generally narrower hackle feathers, so , depending on the chick, it may be hard to tell.)

She has slightly drapey saddle feathers, but they are 'full' and blunt/rounded ends. Very much a 'SHE' despite her having one longish arched tail feather.

HE definitely has drapey saddle feathers, and the ones just behind the wing feathers are definitely pointy as opposed to blunt shaped on the end.

This one also has some drape, and an arched tail feather like a Roo would. Look at it's saddle feathers and tell me what you think it is. Cockerel or pullet?

Happy FBF everyone!

Nappie: He's lost his long, streaming tail feathers, but still has quite a bit of fluff back there - just doesn't like to show it off.

This poor dear has lost almost all BUT her 'crinoline'

And this one is especially for @RoyalChick : the two 'blackish' tweens
