Oh btw my big girls haven;'t gone in the coop to check out the chicks. Idk if they heard them and they are afraid or ignoring them. Tonight should be interesting.

They have a big rooster out here twice that size for 60 bucks . Im sure Im getting plenty of chicken stuff for xmas.

I’ll wait for a couple months and then make the store manager an offer for them

I've placed golf balls out there, they peck them as well. They also listen for the other hens to sing the egg song, if they beat me to where the egg is they will eat it. The truly safe egg laying sites are the nest on top the hay pile and the porch. They really are making to a point that I have to literally run out and grab the egg the moment it is laid to ensure it is not eaten.

Can the hens in question "mysteriously" disappear? "Something must have gotten one"...........then another?

I move them in the dark. Easier to catch and all are sleepy.

The big girls dont want to go in the coop but Maleficent said get out of the way and let me see! Then autumn and Dottie went in to check it out.
